Till I met you: Third Wheel; conflict of emotions episode 5 recap

   Iris was solemn as she talked to Ali that night. "Sana sinabi mo sa akin ang tungkol sa head chef mo. Sana hindi kita sinungitan, dinamayan pa kita."

  "Tama naman ang ginawa mo, delikado naman talaga ang ginawa namin ni Basti."

   "Next time sana sabihin mo muna sa akin ang problema kesa sa ibang tao."

   "Iris, hindi ibang tao si Basti kaibigan ko siya. Pwede mo siyang maging kaibigan kung bibigyan mo siya ng pagkakataon." Ali looked in appeal to her and Iris reluctantly agreed. "Basta ako muna bago si Basti," Iris still cannot resist to demand after receiving a hug from him.

The next day...

    "Efharisto!" Iris received her week's salary from her part-time employer. She was jubilant as she talked to her Mother, Cass in the Philippines informing her that she already arranged the money transfer to her account. But she was not more than happy to tell her Mother that she will be having a date with Ali that night.

Meanwhile...

   Ali found his friend waiting for him in front of their apartment building. "Bro, I was waiting for you," Basti greeted him as soon as he saw him walking towards him. "I want to bring you where the chef frequents at the local diner so you get to know his taste better."

      "Kaya lang may date kasi kami ni Iris-"

     "I just want to help you, Iris would understand." Basti overrode his objections and Ali softly capitulated.

   They went to a local bar and observed the chef from a distance. After the chef had left, they approached the diner and ordered the same dish as the chef did and added an alcohol.

   After a while, while drinking and walking around the town. They were involved in a small altercation with a group of young people bullying a small kid.

       Ali's admiration of Basti grew even fonder.

On the other hand...

  Iris spent the remaining of the day preparing for her date.

   Then she knocked in Ali's room but there was no response, obviously he was out. She tried calling his number but still no response.

   After some time, she dozed, slumped in front of Ali's locked room when he and Basti entered their apartment. They were slightly inebriated with spirits and didn't even noticed that she was there.

   "ALI!" Iris raised her voice in command to get his attention.

      "Ano ba? Saan ka ba galing? At bakit parang lasing ka?"

   "Hindi nakainom lang, pinuntahan kasi namin 'yung favorite restaurant ni Chef. Alam ko nakung ano ang favorite dishes niya." Ali slowly explained.

  "No really, its my fault. I was the one who convinced Ali to come with me. Peace." Basti interposed as he put his hand on her shoulder to gain her attention when she was obviously ignoring him.

   "Peace peace ka dyan." Iris rudely shrugged off Basti's hand. "Lagi na lang kami nangaaway ni Ali ng dahil sa'yo Basti. "Kita mo nga nakalimutan niya ang date namin oh. Tapos tignan mo nga, lasing na lasing na."

   Inundated with spirits, Iris' litany went over the clouds and almost got herself a catch basin of Basti's vomit that she screamed him down.

The next date night...

   Iris was trying to psyche herself up to a romantic dinner with Ali. Telling him how romantic the ambiance of the restaurant was. The perfect place for their romantic date.

   However Ali was preoccupied and bothered by two gay couple who were also dining and obviously having a romantic date a few tables away from them. Iris called his attention and asked why he was bothered by them.

   "Wala lang naalala ko lang yung sinabi ni daddy na meron mga tao na hindi natutuwa na makitang naglalambingan sila ng katulad ng ganyan."

   "Hello! Wala tayo sa pinas, nasa Greece tayo. Bakit ganyan ang reaction mo?"

   He eluded her question by saying that he just saw something he wanted to buy at the flea market.

  A few blocks away, he was accosted by the same group of young people where he and Basti had an altercation the day before. Upon recognizing him, they immediately surrounded him and gutted him in the stomach. He tried to run but they restrained him and hit him more.

   At the right moment, Basti appeared and came to his aid. 

  They managed to win the fight and the youngsters ran away.

     Afterwards Ali had a trouble breathing and has to leaned to Basti for support. Then he started  to experienced a tingling feeling as he heard a drumming beat of his heartbeat.  

   "Si Mama kasi, nung na inlove daw siya kay Tito Papa, nung moment daw na 'yun, yun ang narinig niya. Tugutug tugutug..."

     "Are you okay?" Basti asked him concernedly.

    Nonplussed, he tried to appeared normal. "Yeah, I'm okay."

    "Ali?! Anong nangyari sa'yo?" Iris intent to follow Ali saw him appearing hurt and she rushed to his side.

   "Okay lang ako Iris. Pinag trip-an lang ako ng mga mokong na'yun. Buti na lang at dumating si Basti para tulungan ako." 

        "No, Iris it's my fault. Ako ang kaaway nila, alam nilang kaibigan ko si Ali."

    She turned to him with blazing eyes, "alam mo sabi ko na nama eh. Ikaw na naman ang may pakana nito eh."

     "Iris okay lang ako-"

    "Alam mo hindi ka magiging okay hanggat kasama mo ang mokong na to eh!" Iris was uncontrollable in her anger. 

    She faced him again and said in a loud voice, "stay away from Ali. Stay away from us!"

The next day at work...

   Basti approached Iris at the reception area a with a bouquet of flowers. 

   But Iris cold -heartedly shut him down. "Tingin mo cute ka na niyan?"

    "Peace of offering."

    "Ano ba sa stay away ang hindi mo naiintindihan?"

    Basti was unperturbed as he smiled in the face of her anger. Iris held his arm and dragged him outside of the hotel.

       "Alam mo, bakit ba ang kulit kulit mo?"

    "Iris, I just want to smooth things out. I just want you to know na hindi ko rin gusto ang mga nangyari." Basti explained seriously.

    "Alam mo kahit hindi mo gusto ang nagyayari bale wala pa din yun kasi ikaw mismo ang problema. Magulo kang tao, tumatalon ka ng bangin, humaharurot ka ng motor mo, nakikipag away ka kung kahit kani-kanino. Pati kami ni Basti nagaaway dahil sa'yo. Buhay namin ito ni Basti, pangarap namin ito kaya wag mo kaming idamay sa gulo ng buhay mo."

"Okay, that fine!" Basti declared unsmilingly and began to walk away.

   Iris huffily watched him walked away, chagrin in her face and a pout in her lips.
