Goodbye and Hello to your Light, episode 9 recap
Back in the year 2013, Yu-ri waits for Gang Hwa at the Bus stop after hearing from Hyun Jung that Gang Hwa is feeling down after losing one of his longest patients and he never get used to this feeling that's why Yu-ri is there to cheer him up.
[flashback to the year 2013]
Gang Hwa automatically smiled upon seeing his wife, they walk side by side while Yu-ri acts obliviously about what happened to Gang Hwa at work and just tries to make him feel better secretly.
"There was a time when I could light him up when things were darkness for him, so he wouldn't wander around in the dark for so long, so he wouldn't be in despair." Yu-ri narrates but after she died, Yu-ri knew that she couldn't be the light to Gang Hwa anymore and Gang will be needing someone else to do that for him and that realization put Yu-ri in despair.
After Yu-ri died, Hyun Jung always come over to prepare food for Gang Hwa but he never eats anything and just continues drinking, He went out to drink while the ghost Yu-ri follows him, he drinks alone at a table when Min Jung suddenly joins him. Gang Hwa was surprised but Min Jung didn't mind him and orders two bowls, Gang Hwa automatically assumes that the other bowl is for him and told Min Jung that he didn't want to eat but Min Jung told him that it was both for her.
Back in the present
Yu-ri's mother falls off her bike when she noticed two strange women hugging in the middle of the road and she recognized that it was Hyun Jung but what made her pass out is seeing Yu-ri, her dead daughter in Hyun Jung's arms. They immediately take her to the hospital and Gang Hwa and Geun Sang immediately went to see Yu-ri's mom's condition. While Yu-ri's mother is unconscious she dreams of the conversation she had with a Buddhist at the temple. The Buddhist told her to finally let her daughter go because death and parting are a part of life but she couldn't accept it and said that she wants to see her daughter again even if it's for the last time.
Yu-ri's mom woke up thinking that it was all just a dream but she was shocked to see Yu-ri when she wakes up. She couldn't believe that such a miracle would happen, she cries as she hugs her dead daughter who came back to life. Yu-ri's father and younger sister rush to the hospital worried sick about Yu-ri's mother but they were surprised to see her hugging Yu-ri, Yeon-Ji cried as soon as she saw Yu-ri while their father falls onto the ground unable to believe his own eyes.
While in the car going home. Hyun Jung suddenly pull over and started crying, Geun Sang tries to comfort her and told her that Yu-ri is slowly getting her life back and everything will be fine but he wasn't aware that the real reason why Hyun Jung is crying is that she knew that Yu-ri will die eventually if she didn't get her place back in Gang Hwa and Seo Woo's life and Yu-ri doesn't have any plan to ruin Gang Hwa's relationship with Min Jung just to get her life back.
The next day, the ghosts in the Columbarium are trying their best to wake the guard and switch the tv to drama instead of news when news about Sang Bong's death suddenly pop, the police are questioning Sang Bong's death and Geun Sang said that he didn't see any sign of depression when Sang Bong went to visit in the hospital,
When Yu-ri went out to work she saw a bag of medicine prescribed by Gang Hwa at the gate, she remembers when she asked Gang Hwa before why he wanted to be a heart surgeon, she quickly assumed that it was because of her mom because she has a weak heart and Gang Hwa just cutely answered that he will take care of Yu-ri's mom for the rest of his life and that is what he really wants to do. Gang Hwa didn't fail to fulfill his promise because he indeed takes care of Yu-ri's mom even after Yu-ri's death.
It is Yu-ri's first day as Seo Woo's pick-up helper and as usual, she enthusiastically welcomes Seo Woo at the kindergarten that made Min Jung smile, she even calls Min Jung when she was about to leave and ask her to wait then went back with two cans of coffee, Min Jung jokes that she only drinks specific coffee but Yu-ri scoffed and told her that she knows that Min Jung loves it, Min Jung was confused and ask how she knew it but Yu-ri just said that Min Jung looks like someone who loves sweets. Min Jung seemed convinced by Yu-ri's alibi and head out with a smile on her face but it quickly fades when she heard the other mother gossiping about how Yu-ri treat Seo Woo like she was the most precious kid in the kindergarten and the other mother commented that Seo Woo actually looks a lot like Yu-ri.
Pan Seok told Mi-Ja how Sam Dong helped him in the past, Pan Seok's daughter got into an accident and they need money for surgery but every person that Pan Seok calls turned him down, he defeatedly came back and carry his pitiful daughter so they could go home but the nurse told them that Sam Dong already paid for the surgery,
"I was born human, but if I forget things I should be grateful for, I wouldn’t be human anymore.” Pan Seok told Mi-Ja.
Min Jung meets Yu-ri and Seo Woo halfway, Seo Woo gave Yu-ri a decorated egg that she made from art class but she was taken aback when Seo Woo called Min Jung "mommy" and automatically runs to her, Seo Woo also gave Min Jung a decorated egg but this time it is cuter than the one Seo Woo gave to Yu-ri, Yu-ri looks sad upon seeing how differently Seo Woo treats her from how she treats Min Jung.
Min Jung thank Yu-ri for her hard work but Yu-ri looks disappointed because she couldn't go to their home and catch the ghost, Min Jung quickly notices the disappointment in Yu-ri's face and invited her for dinner.
Gang Hwa purposely went home late so he could avoid running into Yu-ri at home but to his surprise, Yu-ri is in the living room when he arrives. He decided to stay in his study room until Yu-ri is gone.
"Hey!" Yu-ri shouted at Gang Hwa completely forgetting that Min Jung is also there...
