Hi Bye, Mama! 

    The days I was forgotten, episode 12 recap

[flashback to the year 2013]

Gang Hwa watches Yu-ri savored the spicy tteokbokki with distaste because he couldn't understand how Yu-ri can handle the spiciness of the tteokbokki but Yu-ri just scoffs at him and told him that he will never understand the joy of eating spicy food.

Fast-forward to the time when Yu-ri is already a ghost and she watches Min Jung bring home spicy food for dinner, she immediately shouted that Gang Hwa isn't fond of spicy foods but Gang Hwa surprisingly tries to eat one and pretend to like it even though he's dying deep-down, he immediately searched for something to eat to lessen the spiciness in his mouth when Min Jung isn't looking. 

Until one night, Gang Hwa is already the one who brings home spicy food and he genuinely enjoys eating it with Min Jung.

"Throughout my life, I believed that nothing around me would change" Yu-ri narrates.

A quick flashback when Yu-ri and Gang Hwa's favorite tteokbokki place turns to a crane game place and the apartment that they used to live in finds its new owners...

"However, even when I was being forgotten, the world kept on turning every day without fail and many things were changing." Yu-ri continues.

Back to the present

Gang Hwa went to meet Yu-ri at the park holding the picture frame with a sticker on it, he told Yu-ri that Seo Woo was the one who put the sticker on it and refers it as "Cha Yu-ri" the pretty auntie that she spends time with, Gang Hwa told Yu-ri that Seo Woo knows her that made Yu-ri breaks into tears as she hugged the picture frame tightly. "She was watching me," Yu-ri said to herself as she recalls all the time she's been with Seo Woo as a ghost, and it breaks her heart knowing that Seo Woo has been watching her all along.

Gang Hwa patiently wait for an answer as he watches poor Yu-ri cry her heart out, he attempts to reach out his hand to comfort her but eventually pulls back as if he wasn't allowed to do that, When Yu-ri recovers from crying she made Hyun Jung as an alibi, she told Gang Hwa that maybe Seo Woo heard Hyun Jung call her name but Gang Hwa doesn't look convinced, he told Yu-ri to just come clean and tell Min Jung everything so she could see Seo Woo openly but Yu-ri firmly refused and Gang Hwa couldn't understand after sacrificing everything for Seo Woo, he doesn't understand why Yu-ri wouldn't want to spend time with Seo Woo as a mom.

On her way home, Yu-ri was stopped by Guk-bong, the exorcist. Yu-ri just scowled at him thinking that he was just a random stranger on the street but Yu-ri was surprised when Guk-bong pulled her using his cane just like a ghost and told Yu-ri that he came for Seo Woo. 

Ms. Mi-dong arrived just in time and use the bells to pull Yu-ri on her side, Guk-bong reminded Ms. Mi-dong that the ghosts especially Yu-ri is not her friend but her job, he warned her that it won't be long before the exorcist swarm the neighborhood to take care of things that Ms. Mi-dong should've done a long time ago.

Ms. Mi-dong takes Yu-ri to her place, Yu-ri showered her with questions as to why Seo Woo can still see ghosts and why is that exorcist after Seo Woo but Ms. Mi-dong couldn't give her a straight answer, she instead asked Yu-ri why can't she just take her life back and become Gang Hwa's wife and Seo Woo's mom so she could live 

"Do you know what Seo Woo likes the most? her mom" Yu-ri said emotionally as she recalls the times she saw Seo Woo run to her mom every time Min Jung arrives home, Yu-ri knows how much Min Jung means to Sei Woo and just the thought of taking Min Jung away from Seo Woo also breaks her heart and Ms. Mi-dong understands Yu-ri as a mother herself.

Ms. Mi-dong warns Yu-ri to take extra care of Seo Woo because Guk Bong will definitely return and try to take Seo Woo and turn her into an exorcist. Yu-ri asked Ms. Mi-dong how did she able to summon her using her bells earlier as if she was still a ghost and Ms. Mi-dong said that Yu-ri wasn't full human nor a ghost but she is somehow in between.

"If you would do this, why did you send her in the first place?" Ms. Mi-dong mumble to the heavens when Yu-ri leaves.

Min Jung was smiling happily as she stares at their Polaroid pictures of her with her newfound besties which include Hyun Jung and Yu-ri that has taken the other night, she displayed it on their refrigerator that's why Gang Hwa easily spot it but he tries his best not to react, he simply asks Min Jung if she likes spending time with her new friends and Min Jung nods smiling, Gang Hwa was about to head out but Min Jung called him to give him an umbrella but like usual, Gang Hwa refuses because he always carries an umbrella with him but Min Jung insisted and exchange the umbrella on his bag and replace it with the one she's holding.

"I said I'd stop being considerate" Min Jung said with a straight face that made Gang Hwa smile until they both laugh, Gang Hwa was about to head out but he turns back and suddenly suggested to get a new pick-up helper.

Yu-ri was outside Gang Hwa's apartment as she gathers the self-defense tools that she bought to protect Seo Woo from the exorcist when Min Jung heads out from the building with Seo Woo, Min Jung was confused about what Yu-ri is doing there early in the morning and Yu-ri told her that she was just passing by and happens to spot them, they walk together to the daycare both holding Seo Woo's little hands. On their way to the daycare, Min Jung asked Yu-ri why does it seem like she especially likes Seo Woo among the other kids but Yu-ri just let out a nervous laugh and told Min Jung that Seo Woo was just so precious and adorable. Min Jung told her that maybe she wanted to become a mother too but she's still unmarried and Yu-ri couldn't respond to that.

Meanwhile, at Yu-ri's home, her mom discovers that Yu-ri didn't actually get rid of Seo Woo's things but she just hid them on one of her cabinets, when her mom heads out to the kitchen, Yu-ri's dad said that maybe they should let Yu-ri meet Seo Woo but Yu-ri's mom finally told them that Yu-ri has been spending time with Seo Woo, after hearing that Yeon-Ji joins the conversation and strongly suggested to take Seo Woo back but Yu-ri's mom called them cruel if they would do that to a child just because they want to spend time with her.

Geun Sang and Gang Hwa were talking about the strange things that have been happening around them, Gang Hwa still wonder how Yu-ri knew what's happening to the elderly woman the other day, and Geun Sang told him that he doesn't know what's really happening with Yu-ri but Hyun Jung is greatly affected by it.

"One thing is for sure... she's crazy," Geun Sang said pertaining to his wife, he told Gang Hwa that Hyun Jung was acting crazy the other night, she mumbles Yu-ri's name as she drinks and she looks desperate to the point that Geun Sang is starting to get scared she continue repeating incoherent words until she passes out. Gang Hwa and Geun Sang wonder if there is something Hyun Jung is not telling them.

Hyun Jung was on the way to the shop when she felt something strange and quickly realize that someone has been following her, she immediately turns to catch her stalker but it turns out that it was Gang Hwa and Geun Sang.

When the three arrived at Hyun Jung's restaurant, Gang Hwa asked Hyun Jung if she ever mentions Yu-ri's name in front of Seo Woo and Hyun Jung strong denies and told him that she will never say Yu-ri's name especially in front of Seo but she started crying when Gang Hwa told her that Seo Woo knew Yu-ri, the two men were confused but Hyun Jung can only answer them with a sob.

After picking up Seo Woo from her lessons, Yu-ri asked the little girl if she knew her ever since and Seo Woo nods innocently and Yu-ri tries her best to stop her tears from falling and Seo Woo reaches out her little hand to stroke Yu-ri's head as if she's trying to comfort her.

Yu-ri and her mom is cuddling and bed when Yu-ri's mom suddenly suggested to stop being Seo Woo's pick-up helper and come clean to Gang Hwa's wife and Yu-ri quickly gets up surprised that her mom knows about what she's been doing. Yu-ri's mom told her that she shouldn't continue fooling Gang Hwa's poor wife but Yu-ri could only cry as her mom hug her tight.

Hye Jin who committed suicide went to see her mom as she protests the death of her child outside Hye Jin's workplace, Hye Jin told Sang Bong who was beside her that she was bullied at work that's why she committed suicide, Sang Bong casually told Hye Jin that she should've quit instead of committing suicide and Hye Jin told him that she's just realizing it now that her career wasn't everything to her because she still has her mom and her family and now her biggest regret is taking her own life, she weeps as she watches her mom suffers because of her death.

Yu-ri felt bad as she watches her dad sleep that's why she texted Min Jung and offered to babysit Seo Woo all day but Min Jung politely declines and said that it's okay. But a moment later, she received a call from Gang Hwa and found him in front of their gate with Seo Woo, Gang Hwa asked her to babysit Seo Woo for him trying his best to make it look like he was just asking a favor, he told Yu-ri that he will be gone for a day and she can keep Seo Woo as long as she likes and Yu-ri couldn't hide her excitement.

Yu-ri's dad was woken up by Seo Woo's giggle and her dad just laugh thinking that it was just a sweet dream but turns out to be real, he followed Seo Woo to the living room and found everyone gathered there adoring cute little Seo Woo.

Gang Hwa made an excuse and told Min Jung that he will take Seo Woo on a picnic with Geun Sang and his son but Min Jung happens to run to Hyun Jung in the street and Hyun Jung wasn't alone because her son is with her that made Min Jung suspicious that Gang Hwa lied to her.

Yu-ri reminded Gang Hwa to head straight home and hold Seo Woo's hand at all times and Yu-ri sincerely thanks Gang Hwa for bringing Seo Woo to spend time with her and her family and Gang Hwa also responded with a smile. Gang Hwa looks preoccupied as he and Seo stand waiting to cross the crosswalk when he received a text from Min Jung asking about their whereabouts, he lets go of Seo Woo's hand and didn't notice that Seo Woo went to someone after hearing her name and it turns out to be Guk-bong the exorcist, he was about to pat Seo Woo's head when Gang Hwa grab him by the collar and furiously asked who is he and Guk-bong smirk and told him that he is Yu-ri's friend. He told Gang Hwa that Yu-ri has been with him for the past 5 years and he wasn't even aware.

Hyun Jung finally told Geun Sang that Yu-ri was a ghost for 5 years and Geun Sang is worried on how Gang Hwa would handle it if he'll find out.

Tearful Gang Hwa run back to Yu-ri's house after dropping Seo Woo at home, he found Yu-ri outside of their house...

"You've been next to me the whole time... You saw everything?" Gang Hwa said recalling all the time he spent with Min Jung and ghost Yu-ri quietly watches them fall in love and eventually get married and become a family.

Yu-ri also breaks into tears after realizing that Gang Hwa already knows that she's been next to him all this time.
