Till I Met You: Confession; love triangle episode 9 recap

    Following Ali's confession, Iris ran to her assigned room and locked herself in. She was filled with incredulity and shock as she sat on the stone cold floor trying to call her Mother from the Philippines.

    She started when Ali started knocking on her door calling her name. "Iris, magusap tayo. Iris open the door."

     She put her hand over mouth, not wanting him to hear how much he hurt her with his confession.

     "Iris if you want to hurt me, it's okay. I deserve it. Please talk to me. Just talk to me please." He pleaded over the wooden door.

   Iris remained silent, trying all her might to contain her sobs.

   "Iris, I will wait here until you're okay. I'm still your best friend. I'm sorry please. Let me explain." Ali promised on the other side of the door while she continued to shed silent tears on the broken promises and uncertain future that will loom ahead.

After a long while...

    Ali seemed tried from all the knocking, pleading and talking to Iris over the locked door that he slumped against the thick wooden panel, looking unseeingly at the panoramic view before him. Tessa quietly sat beside him and briefly touched his knees. "Give her time," she softly advises, "give her space."

    "I hurt my best friend..." Ali started to cry again.

   "No," Tessa answered, "one way or another, your relationship will eventually lead this path. She will be hurt in the process no matter what. Ali, you did the right thing."

The next day...

   Iris woke up from the incessant ring of her Mother's call via Skype. With tears evident from her eyes and at the rasp of her voice. She informed her mother that she her relationship with Ali has ended but did not disclosed his gay confession. 

   After her conversation with her Mother, she opened her bedroom door and found Ali sleeping on the floor. Ali woke up as he felt her presence but before he can move she sped fast and walked angrily away from him.

    "Iris wait! Iris!" There was despair in his voice as she repeatedly ignored his call. He sat upon the stone bench under the canopied Greek roses and hung his head. 

    After a while, he looked up as soon as he saw Iris's white pants and looked at her with hope and a plea for understanding and forgiveness shining in his eyes.

    "You repeatedly said I love you to me. After all these years, you lead me on and lied to me purposely." There was anger in her voice as she asked him those questions.

     "I-I lied to you, yes. But I did not con you or anything. I don't understand myself. It's my fault but believe me this is not something that I want for us to happen. Everything went wrong and I didn't mean to. When I said to you I love you, I really loved you then. I just didn't know...I just didn't know..." His voice trailed away as he had trouble blurting the words out.

    "That you're gay, is that right?" She finishes for him coldly.

       "Even now I still don't understand. I just found that-"

        "Because of Basti?"

    "It's not that, Iris. I can't explain. But this didn't just happened overnight. What I"m certain about is that I love you. Even now, you're my best friend. Iris, I'm sorry. I didn't meant for this to happen."

     Finally she allowed herself to look at him straight in the eyes, "so are you really sure? You are not backing out? Are you not confused? Baka closet gay ka lang?"

      "Iris naman..."

    She put both hands near her temples as if her head was aching, "paano naman, I didn't even noticed." After  few moments of contemplation, he said uncertainly. "Paano si Basti? What if he knows and he'll think that the friendship that I'm giving him is not genuine because I'm gay?"

   
    "You know, if Basti really thinks that you are his brother, he will understand you. And if not, if he is not going to accept you then he doesn't deserve you."

At the port...

    Before their scheduled ferry trip back to Athens, Ali made it clear to Basti that his relationship with Iris has ended and they decided to remain as friends.

    Then Ali decided to tell Basti about his sexuality but he had trouble getting the words out and in the end, he ran away.

    Watching from the sidelines, knowing that Ali can't find in himself to confess. She took charge and told her best friend that she will do it in his stead which Ali reluctantly agreed.

Meanwhile...

    Basti taking into consideration what Ali has told him about the end of his relationship with Iris. He finally decided to confess to her her his liking for her. It was at the right moment that she appeared before him.

     "Si Ali?" He asked her, "is he okay?"

     "Ah..." Iris looked back at the direction of marina where she left Ali. "Hindi eh," she answered.

      "Why? Where is he?"

     She seemed reluctant to answer his question that he had to ask the reason why she seemed so angry at him. Iris shook her head in negation, "hindi wala na 'yon." Her answer were cold as ice and her facial expression could have frozen a much lesser man but Basti still persisted. "I'm glad that you're okay with Ali even if your relationship with him has ended. I'm glad that you're still friends."

    "Of course, he is my friend," she retorted. "He's also your friend, isn't he?"

     "Yes, he's like a brother to me."

     She considered his answer for  a moment in silence then she asked, "then you'll accept him whatever he is?"

     "Why? What do you mean? What's going on?"

On the other hand...

                  "I'm gay but I'm not a coward."

    Ali who remained, finally mustered his courage and decided to tell Basti the truth by himself. He ran to to where Iris and Basti is. 


Back to Basti and Iris...

     "There's something I want to tell you about Ali, this is the reason why we broke up."

     "Wait-we don't need to talk about your break up. What I want to tell you is about my feelings-"  Iris' eyes rounded in surprise. "Wait, may nararamdaman ka para kay Ali?"

       "No. What are you talking about?"

       "Eh kasi si Ali ang pinaguusapan nati eh-"

       "Ali? I'm talking about you."

       "Mahal ka ni Ali-"

        "I like you." 

 They both spoke simultaneously and for a moment here was confused silence between them as they both assimilated their blurted words. Then in between frozen silence, Ali intervened and asked, "gusto mo si Iris?"

    "Teka, what does she mean mahal mo ko? Are you saying you're gay?"

     "Oo. Ngayon sagutin mo naman ang tanong ko gusto mo si Iris?" There was strength and resolution in Ali as he posed the question in him while Iris looked uncomfortable by the minute.

       "Yes."

      "Ang sakit," his voice was rich with emotion and he gave Basti one last look before moving away.
